AREA FIREFIGHTERS TO CONVERGE ON AUBURN, NY
 
Volunteers from over nine counties will kick off their Northern Central
New York Volunteer Firemen's Association Annual Convention at 6:30 P. M.
on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 at the Auburn, NY Holiday Inn as they gather
together at a banquet honoring area people that have done outstanding
deeds in their community relating to public safety, the fire service or
the saving of lives.
 
They will also start a bidding war on about twenty "theme" baskets in a
"Silent Auction" to benefit the "not for profit" organization.
 
Eight A. M. Friday morning registration and refreshments will be
followed at Nine o'clock with the beginning of the business session and
the introduction and messages from local officials, invited guests and
committees including a 2% Tax Presentation of how fire departments can
properly spend and account for that income collected from insurance
companies doing business in their area.
 
One P. M. Friday afternoon forums bring Ross Corser and Robert Beamish
from the Volunteer Fire Police Association of the State of New York to
provide information about the newest version of the NYS Fire Police Course.
 
Harold Smith and Alfonso Valaro will be the speakers for the Fire
Chief's Forum.
 
At Six P. M. Fire Department units will line up at the Weedsport, NY
High School for the Seven o'clock sharp parade to the Weedsport Fire
Department Field Days at the grounds on Rt. 31 east of Rt. 34.
 
Saturday morning at Nine, the Memorial Service honoring fallen
Firefighters, Auxiliary Members and their families will commence.  Names
on the Necrology Lists will be called, a flower inserted into a special
Maltese Cross Plaque, and a bell tolled for each name called.  All
family members are urged to attend this service honoring those who have
answered their last alarm.
 
After a short break the organization business meeting reconvenes to
continue the reports, hold elections, set future meeting sites and
dates, announce the results and conclude the "Silent Auction".
 
The Northern Central NYVFA represents all fire departments, auxiliaries
and their members with firefighting issues of common concern brought to
the NYS Governor, Senate and Assembly through Northern Central and the
Firemen's Association of the State of New York from the Counties of
Cayuga, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and
Yates in northern central New York State.
